PO had bolted a CB radio there. So what's the simples way to get that dash area out. It's the only part I didn't take out during my rebuild. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale

Do yo have a photo?
The dash is one piece. The instrument panel and the top piece come off, but the rest of it from driver mirror to passenger mirror are all one piece and not easy to remove. Lots of hard to reach rivets under the windshield.

Bob,
My dash has screws, but to get to them I had to remove the windshields. No combination of tools would work.
the side panels will also need to be removed, the center dash comes out horizontally nor vertically.
You will be able to get at all what is under the dash, wiring, insulate the firewall, seal air leaks, and "?",my 2 piece air
duct had lots of air leaks, the opening from the HVAC box (through the firewall) will need to have new seals.
Sorry for that hard answer, but some of these jobs are only for the tough minded persons.

This is one piece.
Granted this is a 76.
You can test it down further from here, but not without removing it first.

To get to that point you have to remove both side (door) panels, the dash face, the top dash cover, the steering wheel, and the windshields. It can come out without removing the windshield but you'll break the plastic up front in the process.

Bob,
IMO, unless the dash is totally trash and has to be replaced, don't remove it. The plastics are brittle from 40+ years of exposure to the elements. I took mine out at the request of the person doing the recovering. It was difficult to take out and finally came out in about 50 pieces. Every time I would bend it a little to to clear something or bump something, PLINK...CRACK. I tried glassing it back together, but then some other piece would break off. I finally had to give up on it and buy a reproduction. The repro was very difficult to fit. IMO (In My STRONG Opinion). don't do it. Work with what you got. Again...JMHO.

I know, I sound like a broken record, but I still say it's easier to start
over, start over, start over,...
