Hey does anyone have a used closet door latch assy. I really only need the interior bolt assy and the exterior frame catch. For some reason the PO removed the bolt and exterior frame catch. The inside and outside covers are still mounted on the door.
I checked first with one of our well known suppliers (who shall remain nameless) because I try and support them as often as possible. The good news is that they have a new one. The not so good news for me was the cost. Over $100. I'm not criticizing their cost on what is probably a little requested part that they pay to hold in inventory, but I just cant afford that for a door latch. Way too many other operability challenges to solve as well.
I'm beginning to better understand why people buy parts coaches.......

That part does get loose and misplaced, that is why your looking for it.
Most and if not all our used coaches we get are missing it.
It is an aircraft part so they are high priced, just look at the parts, not
automotive grade.

Hi JimK.
Yep, totally understand and however it came across, sincerely didn't intend to sound like criticism. Was just hoping for an alternate solution on the cheap. I only need the bolt and the external catch. And necessity being related to good old invention, I got some 1/2 x 1/4 steel bar stock and cut to length. Still need to drill and shape and then should be good to go. I'm still thinking about where to scrounge the catch. Or make one.

Steve,
No problem, there are parts that we get that are priced very high as it is
limited or no longer available.
We have had discussions about not selling parts that are over priced for
one reason or other, but felt we might as well stock them for those that
need them.
We make big margin on our air filter housings.
Wey are supplying TESLA with SS Housings and they prefer our units.

As an illustration of Jim's point, when we visit the in-laws in PA, we generally get my late father-in-law's 2000 Dodge Dakota to drive. On one trip, about 8 or 9 years ago, the plastic piece on the bottom of the center console lid had the latch broken off of it so the lid wouldn't stay closed. After it hit Kathy's elbow a few times, I KNEW it had to be fixed. We stopped by the local Chrysler dealer and, surprisingly, they had the part in stock. The cost on the part was under $20.00. The last time we were there, about a year ago, someone in the family had managed to break the latch off again. Same part at the same dealer (not in stock this time, they had to bring it in from another dealer) was almost $60.00. The next time it breaks, IF the part is even available, it will probably cost over $100.00.
How much harder is it to stock parts for a 40+ year old motorhome that was only produces for six years and had relatively low production numbers.
