Hello all,

I'm have been slowly in the process of refurbing my LP tank. It started with a leaky regulator so I decided to pull the tank and repaint. While I was at it I thought to replace the tank valve and found a source on the inner webs. The site is www.ODMRV.com and is an Airstream parts and supply place. They had the same exact valve for our GMC on their site for $68 and was the only place I could find one. Well, instead of telling me that part was discontinued they sent me another valve what they felt was an equivalent. The problem is the valve they sent me didn't have the pressure relieve valve on it. See pictures below. I'm not going to use the valve they sent me and I am returning it. I don't think it is leaking so I am not concerned about it. Top bad this valve is no longer available because I'm sure some day it will start to leak.. If it does I suppose one could install another shut-off valve on top of this one.

The local guru at Blossman Gas got me a new one, he noted the OEM had quit making them. I don't know who his supplier was buit the valve had the proper releif port on the side. He also poited out, had I not bent the thing removing it, there's an easily available rebuild kit for the original which replaces all the plastic parts - seals and o - rings.

That also appears from the picture to be missing the outer threads. The GMC one has both internal and external treads for filling with two types of fill nozzles.

Check with a local large propane dealer. They might have the valve you need. If I recall, there should also be rebuild kits for the seals in your valve.

You are going to make me check my 3 year old valve on my coach, and the month old valve on the 77 eleganza in my driveway. Both we brought to local gas service place and handed the old one to Them and they gave us a new one. Wonder if we are missing the valve?

For what it is worth, we just replaced the gas valve in the 77 a month ago. Like I said above we took the old one out, went to local propane service company(amerigas here in st. Cloud, mn). And they handed us a new valve. I just checked it and it is the correct one with the pressure relief.

The one I installed in my coach years ago looks exactly the same with the relief valve as well.

So I would think it an easy valve to find at least in my neck of the woods. And I dont think it was $65.

Hello Jon,
My local propane supplier Ferrell Gas has been really helpful with helping me restore and modify my propane tank and system. They can supply all the improved parts that you will need. Things such as two stage regulators and quick disconnect fittings for external grilling options. Good luck.

By the way, I just completed the first leg of my maiden voyage. 2500 miles and just 3 minor breakdowns!
I love this vehicle.
