I have heard of problems with LED fuses on this forum. Plus don't you have to orient them correctly at instal?

Those are "nice" and can be useful for detecting failures. BUT, don't make
the mistake that I (with an MSEE) made once: Checking for voltage with a
high impedance voltmeter on a device supplied from one of those will give
incorrect results! Why? Because the small current passed by the
illuminated LED is more than adequate to supply the high impedance meter.
I incorrectly concluded that a refrigerator control board was bad because
it had full 12VDC applied but didn't perform its functions. The 12VDC was
indeed there, but the LED fuse limited current to a small fraction of the
current required by the board.
Using a trouble light with a bulb (NOT an LED) would have provided more
accurate troubleshooting results because the bulb would not have
illuminated with the tiny current.

Those fuses have been around for a few years. On June 15, 2013, I bought a 42 fuse variety pack (included 7 of each: 5 10 15 20 25 30 Amp Fuses) of them on Amazon for around $23. "Littelfuse 00940400ZGLO Smart Glow Blade Style Assorted Multi-Pack Fuse - 42 Piece".
I don't think they have to be installed in any specific way.
I was not aware of the problems Ken had with diagnosing electrical problems. I will keep that mind when I have problems.
I like having a LED to let me know a fuse has blown. That feature has saved me time on 2 different occasions.

There great as long as you take note of Ken Henderson's remarks. I have 3 - 12 volt panels that have the LED in the panel itself. The 8 circuit LED panel was about $7. Then uses the standard blade fuses. I have a 12 circuit panel for the house. One 8 for circuits that are ignition controlled. Takes the excess load off our stock ignition that wasn't meant to handle added 12v loads. Then one more 8 up front that is 12v on all the time. The last 2 are below the wiper motor. Under the front hatch. And have a clear plastic cover. Bob Dunahugh Member GMCMI
