The 6010 noise is a higher frequency than the Onan. Higher frequencies are easier to attenuate than the low frequency hum from the Onan. You need lots of heavy mass like lead and Sheetrock to absorb low frequency energy. So properly insulated you can make the Honda much quieter than the Onan . I have had then both and my Honda is much quieter. It also help to be deaf to higher frequencies! With all the the self help videos and Paul's support at Pinellas I'll take the Honda every time. I think $1200 on a unit with less than 300 hours is a bargain.

For the record these are exactly the comments that I'm talking about
With the onan running correctly with a good exhaust and no leaks, you can stand beside it and carry on a conversation.
The Honda, not so much.
I have run both side by side in the shop.
Inside the coach is a different story than outside, I've got 4 layers of sound deadening material, 4" of spray foam, and a 10" memory foam mattress between me and the genset, it's OK inside.
Outside though I am very self conscious about running it when there are other people within a couple hundred yards. Sounds like someone is mowing the lawn at 90 mph
You do make a point about not hearing high frequencies, I can't hear above 10khz. Maybe you guys who are twice my age can't hear above 5khz and that's why everyone says it's quiet haha!

Could just be a matter of perspective then. For my purposes, the Honda is quieter. We use the generator going down the road and that's about it. So I don't care if it is louder outside. I do care if it is louder inside, and it's not. Plus it does something my Onan, despite a ton of time and money, failed to do. Start consistently when needed. So I'm probably a little more forgiving of the sound, which I do agree is a much higher pitched and irritating noise if you are standing next to the units running side by side outside.

With all the quiet inverter units out there right now, has anyone done anything about fitting them to a coach?
We picked up a 3kW inverter Honda for our real estate biz. It's incredibly quiet.

I know JimB worked on this for a while a few years back. There were problems with picking up the heavy start up load for things like AC units. Perhaps the tech has progressed to where this is more feasible now.

I just starting looking into this, and they rate the sound level at dB-A weighted at 23 feet?
Specsmanship from the marketing department at it’s finest. Simply amazing.
Kind of like how tight should that fastner be? One grunt or two?

There is a thread here somewhere showing a 23' with a Honda EU3000i in the bay. It physically fits, even in a 23' narrow bay, but we never did hear if it had been permanently installed or was just sitting on the tray. I suspect it was the later.
I have a EU3000i for the house, it is incredibly quiet.
