GMC netters,

I learned today that one of our members, Joe Ekl, has passed away.

Joe was one of our most committed members and vendor. Joe was always available

to help anyone of our group that needed it, whether it was correcting a door

lock or making keys( his forte ) or any thing else from dash problems to mechanical issues.

You could always spot Joe and Fran's coach, the black and gold coach sporting
the team colors of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He will be missed by all and we wish the best and our prayers to Fran and his family.

Aww shoot. I liked Joe a lot. I had heard he had some health problems and missed him at the GMCMI rallies for the past few years. He was a good man. I remember meeting him at my first GMCMI rally and it seemed to me like he made a special effort to make me feel welcome.

Godspeed Joe, Godspeed.

Sorry to hear this. I have a couple sets of his keys from the first two Dothan Conventions. He was a truly nice man who was willing to chat with and help anyone. Thinking of his family at this difficult time.

A few years ago when we had several GMC owners caravaning to the
GMCMI Rally Amana colonies, we all stopped at a rest stop west of
Indianapolis.

As we were walking towards the rest stop building, Joe turned around
and looked at the GMC's that were parked. He said to me " Always makes
me feel good to look at those GMC Coaches" and then with a smile said
"Makes me feel even better when I don't see anything leaking out of 'em."

He will be missed and remembered.

Sorry to hear of Joe's passing--he had been ill (was it cancer?) some years
ago but beat the odds they gave him then by quite a while. He and I were
parked next to each other at an Eastern States rally, talking about my
perpetual mouse problem, when a mouse picked that moment to jump out of my
coach through the open door and scurry off. Joe didn't want that Virginia
mouse to become a Pennsylvania mouse, but we agreed from the direction he
went that he'd probably become a North Carolina mouse. Joe had just had his
coach painted, which looked all the better being parked next to Jaws. Hard
to believe that was nine years ago.

Rest In Peace.

Although I never had the privilege of meeting him, it is always sad to lose a member of the community. Prayers for his friends and family.
