Barb got her 73 Glacier home today. Her family thought she had it repainted. That original blue cleaned up to the point that it looks like a fresh paint job. That blue buffed up better then I expected. Bought that special SEM automotive black trim paint for the window frames. Then new tires on new Eagle rims. Next a coat of wax next winter in the Southwest for protection. Way too many paint jobs get written off way to soon. That 73 will serve her well for some time. With the items covered. Starter, alternator, belts, fan clutch, high pressure power steering hose, auxiliary 12v fuse panel with relay to take load off ignition switch, transmission, and all fluids/filters changed. Then a Digi Panel to keep an eye on things. Now back to my GMC. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale

"1970 -- The first aftermarket polyurethane enamel, Imron, was introduced by DuPont.
It utilized a two-part chemical system that was extremely durable. DuPont experimented with waterborne solvents during this period."

Imron used a catalyst with isocyanate, producing a hazardous vapor.
The modern day Imron paint is less lethal, but probably not as durable.

According to Bob Burkitt, "...the first Imron used on GMCs was on August 22, 1974 shortly after
production of the 1975 models began. The first serial number with Imron has been recorded as TZE165V100089."
