Jerry, the block can be repaired with a sleeve if worst comes to worst and
a suitable replacement block cannot be located. If the heads are cracked
where the exhaust manifolds mate with the manifolds, that can be repaired
with tapered plugs and surfacing. If they are cracked in the combustion
chambers near the valve seats, they are probably scrap metal at this point.
J and G Heads are still fairly easy to find as they are low compression
"smogger" heads and the 4-4-2 guys are looking for K hi-pro big valve
heads. The J and G heads are better for our application, anyway.
But, darn, I hate to hear news like yours. One more engine headed for
the recycling industry.
