Well, I think it's time to do some planning for eclipse viewing in the west.
I'm inclined to try to find some BLM land in the eastern half of the state (well, Bend or east). It needs to be more valley than mountain so as to minimize the risk of clouds.
And that's about as far as I've gotten. For traffic reasons (traffic is likely to be bad 24h either side of the eclipse), I'd like to be in place by Saturday afternoon.
This is August 21st, 2017, a bit after 10am (but, check on your own!).
