Jim Hupy is correct about both. My 78 Royale that burned 19 months ago still has a completely stock system on it. And it hasn't dropped at all in that time. I have the Quad bag system on the replacement 78 Royale. This system seems to be more stable on the road. ( Others can say if that's the case for them.) The main reason I put that system on. If a bag gets damaged on the road. And goes flat. The other bag will carry the load till you can get to a safe place to make repairs. Bob Dunahugh

Mark,
Somewhere I have an email that goes into great detail regarding what you
have noted below and I agree with you 100%.
I have the OEM system on the Avion in the USA and the Harrison system on the
Avion here. I will leave them as is in fact I have a pair of OEM Firestone
bags from their last production run in the USA for spares.
However, if it's a dark and stormy night and you have a flat on the driver
side I for one would be much happier risking driving on one rear wheel than
changing the tire pulled over on the side of the road.
If one drives at a slow speed with the emergency flashers until the next
"safe spot" I believe you'll be fine.
How many videos have you seen with morons running into the side of vehicles
pulled over by the cops with their roof light flashing!

Just be aware what you are asking of that remaining tire, rim, spindle and
swing arm. Double the load it was ever designed to carry. I am waiting for
someone that tries that to report a blown tire, or bent swing arm. Even with
80 PSI that tire isn't supposed to carry more than 2680 pounds. The way
people here (over)load their RVs, there can be more than 4000 pounds on that
one tire/spindle/swing arm.
Shudder.

The Quad-bag system also exerts a rotational torque on the bogie mounts and frame with every bump a rear tire hits. The bogie mount and frame were never designed to take those forces as well.
I also wonder how a quad bag would handle the 4x4's suspension test shown the the GMC motorhome test movie. I would think it like would bounce like the covered up competition vehicle.
I stuck with a newer version of the OEM single bag.

My previous coach had the stock system. I sent the spare stock bag along with it when the NO picked it up. It worked just fine. My current coach has a single bag system with a Firestone bag. I sent Sullivan pictures of it, he said it wasn't his'n. It's a clone someone made. At any rate, it seems to perform much the same as the OEM. It's got an ElectroLevel system, while the other had a J.R. Slaten modified valve system. I'm not sure I'd favor either over the other.
There are a lot of four bag systems running around, I'm not sure about some of the stresses they impose. Which is moot, they're out of my financial reach anyway.
