When I asked about outside temp sensor locations. Someone asked if I'd ever thought about an Astro 12 volt unit. And yes I had. I even had one in my shop. But the wires coming out of the ceiling unit is my problem. It's the console that has the compass, and outside temp. display. What wires go were. 11 total wires. I have the grill sensor.

These are the wires that are bundled together in this 2003 Astro unit I have. If someone knows the colors for another year. Then I'll go buy the one for the year that you have. I really like the compass feature. Bob Dunahugh

If you go in the Internet and google "Astro Ceiling Console wiring” you will find many sites.
Here is one of them http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f62/overhead-console-wiring-large-pics-420587/

However when looking at others I see there are several different ones probably depending on the year.

Hi Bob

I have a 2005 Safari/Astro but only have the wiring diagrams from my '97 which had fewer features in the overhead.

The green with black goes from the console to the temp sensor.
The sensor is grounded with a black, so blacks s/b grounds in the overhead.
Orange is to 12v for module and lamps that don't dim.
Purple with white goes to the light dimming control in the dash.

Wow ain't google great, pj and Emery beat me to it, but maybe this will help tracing it.

Hi Bob

Here is Kelvins album for installing a 96 Blazer GM overhead console. The wiring may not match but it may help with the overall install.
