I would like to repaint my propane tank but am wondering about getting it out and back in again. How heavy is it and how have you handled it?

My 23' tank wasn't that heavy, but to clear the door it has to be turned and moved, kind of like a chinese puzzle. It >will< go in and out with a bit of thought. My 26' was rehabbed by the PO, but looks much the same. It's easier with the valves and protrusions off.

It is an easy job just disconnect the tank and drag it out till one end is on the ground then swing the other end out . Put it back in the same way. It would be a good time to cover the floor of the space with sheet metal while you have it out.

I pulled mine years ago. It was not empty or full. I did not have a weight problem removing or reinstalling it by myself. While it was out I repainted the cabinet floor and also the entire tank with rustoleum gray.

I do not know the actual weight of mine.

Propane inside it weighs 4.2 pounds per gallon.
