The majority said let's go back to Wekiwa this year. So at least me and Sam and maybe Paula and the Border Collies and the cats - not yet settled - will again be In Residence for the annual AKC brouhaha and Meet The Breeds in Mousetown. Week of December 11, the Big Show being the 16th and 17th. My Meet The Breed associates have ginned up something or other different for our portion this year, I'm not quite sure what. But, there will be Saturday Night at the Eyetralian Joint, assuming she's still in binniss. I could handle a night at the Korean joint too, again of they're still there. Almost Famous Chicken one night, and what we can scare up other nights. So far, it's always been quite good.
Oh yeah - I have reserved Site 19 in the first circle. Early reservations are indicated, there was an unconfirmed rumor that Lake Louisa would be closed for work this year. Wekiwa got sewer now. Reservations site says 30 amp hookups like year before last, rumor says 50 during last year's renovations. Who knows - bring your adapter. And plus too as well, the Dog People have found the place and they're tired of giving the Convention Center 600 bux plus for a ten foot wide space with nothing on a roasting parking lot.
As always, a day will be wasted harassing Bounds at the New and Improved Co-op, and another spending money at SkyCraft. Those who wish are also cordially invited to drop some dollars at Ikea, it seems a popular destination.
Be there or be square,

Last year someone asked what the program would be and who was the sponsoring club and such, so this year it's a Gathering. Very similar to years past though.

Hi Johnny,
What dates will you be at Wekiwa Springs State Park? Are there other GMCers planning to attend? Even though we're not into the AKC events at the convention center, we live only 120 miles from Wekiwa Springs and are always looking for opportunities to camp with other GMCers. If the "gathering" dates don't conflict with the GMCSS December rally, we might join the fun. I'll have to check the co-pilot's schedule.

Russell, most of the attendees aren't Dog Mavens. Galbavy used to show, but hasn't for years, the others have pets who sometimes come along. By all means join us. I'll get there Monday the 11th, and leave the following Monday. Saturday and Sunday I'll be tied up with Meet The Breed, the rest of the time I'll be loose. On Saturday night, I host our Meet The Breed volunteers, usually three or four folks at an Italian joint in Apopka and everyone else comes along. Traditionally - if three or four years is a 'tradition' one coach or another provides an entree each night It isn't a requirement, we usually end up 'out' one night anyway. Someone found a Korean joint a couple of years ago and they stayed open for us one night. Really good. Meantimes, I normally barbeque 'almost famous' chicken one evening and boil some corn. Somebody- R C Jordan maybe ? - often provides down east pulled pork pig barbecue, last year somebody had red beans and hamhock that had been slow cooked all day, etc. Somewhere along the line we did one night of leftovers and still sent food home with people. I began the cookout mostly because I'm diabetic and have to pay attention to what's in what I eat, and barbecue for one seems sort of silly. It isn't a requirement, there actually aren't any requirements. There are two Rules on my site, no politics spoken here and no religion spoken here. Under your awning, do as you wish. Book a site for all or part of the week and show up. If you're that close to Orlando you're likely spent time and money in SkyCraft... if not, bring your credit card and join us. I have an Ikea in Atlanta, most of the other people don't have one close so there's usually a pilgrimage there. If you favor sitting on your tail and drinking beer, you'll have company.
I think that covers it, anyone else who wishes to show up is most welcome.. it started as GMCers and has spread to the occasional SOB over time.... just congenial people who want to kick back for a week and coast.
For the record, I belong to the local Episcopal church and like most rural Southerners vote against various folks on election day.
Oh yeah - the bears. There are reputedly bears in the park. Actually there ARE, I've seen one at least. There are more stories than bears though - ask.

OK, Sites 13, 14, 20, and 22 are yet available on GMC Row. And there's others. Howsomever, only 32 of 60 are yet available and it's still seven months out. The folks on RVs and Dog Shows are beginning to find the park. They already found out what it costs to park at the venue (~~600 bux for the week, electric only on blacktop)

Lissen, yall have to hold the good food till Monday. I have a show in Savannah through Sunday just like last year. I'll do Almost Famous BBQ chicken any might but Friday. Anybody that's gonna do a main dish pick a night and i'll take whatever's left. Saturday - for me at least - is the Eyetralian joint the lady runs in Apopka, I hope ever body else comes along like always. We can figure the rest out, but I hafta wine and dine my troops at Meet The Breed.

Update -
R C Jordan sent me a note, he's unable to attend this year due to some health problems. Consequently, if he hasn't cancelled yet, he will, thus making his space available (park is currently sold out for the week). So, one more may well be available.
Please note, due to (dog) politics, age, and so forth, this >may< be the last one.

ACK. But, she needs to heal more than we need her at the park, so yall show when and if you can. If you can't, tell some of the SS people to show up in your stead.
Meantimes, Ada is on the church prayer list.
