On ours, any time you turn off the fan the lid will close. You then have to reopen it again. With our manual unit we turn on or off the fan and the lid stays up. No need to fiddle with it as it stays open nearly all the time.

Both drive equally as well.

Hi Jerry, After reading your post yesterday, I went out and checked the Maxxair in my coach. I can open and close the vent whether the fan is running
or not. There is a button on my remote that reads "vent" with open and close options. Mine may be a different model than yours or a later model. I'm
not trying to contradict anyone or cause any hard feelings, but I wanted to let people know that it does operate that way. By the way, I love the
Maxxair vent and consider it a great upgrade to our coach.
