The one shown is the remote control version which has an odd quirk. There is no way to turn off the fan without also closing the lid. We have these on both our coaches and much prefer the manual versions which do allow you to turn off the fan and leave the lid up where it almost always is in our coaches. If anyone would like the remote control version I would gladly swap you for the manual version.

Hi Jerry, After reading your post yesterday, I went out and checked the Maxxair in my coach. I can open and close the vent whether the fan is running or not. There is a button on my remote that reads "vent" with open and close options. Mine may be a different model than yours or a later model. I'm not trying to contradict anyone or cause any hard feelings, but I wanted to let people know that it does operate that way. By the way, I love the Maxxair vent and consider it a great upgrade to our coach.

That is the feature of the Max Air.
