I have a slight drone in the rear starting at 63 MPH. Not powertrain speed related and 6 new tires did not change it. So--- I want to inspect and repack for piece of mind. Is the jury still saying Synpower is best for rear wheel bearings? I would think a bearing would be a growl or a rump rump starting at a much lower speed but you never know.

I packed the new ones in Synpower. Hadda remove to replace the wheel cylinders - which I should of done with the reaction arm - and all looks good still. One wheel cylinder leaking, one frozen, four new ones. From the heathen chinee, but that's what was available. Look just like what came off.
A note to brake cylinder repairmen with a reaction arm - hook the brake line to the cylinder before you bolt the cylinder to the backing plate, it's much easier.

Inspecting the RF rear the outer looks ok but feels rough on the bearings inner race that you can't see. Grease is red and so red grease or Mobil 1 but not separating and feels thicker than Mobil 1. Cinnabar was last to service Anyone know what they use? Do I have to replace the race if it looks ok?

If I felt anything rough on a surface the rollers roll on, I'd make sure it wasn't a lump of grease or whatever, and if it's still rough I'd replace. When you say you can't see, you refer to the race that's captive to the bearing ass'y? You can see the ones in the hub by wiping them off. If the hidden race is rough - you can feel it when you turn the bearing - replace it. It ain't gonna get smooth all by itself. Eventually something will break at the rough spot.

My choice of grease is Synpower (USA) or Caterpillar Desert Gold (AUS).

New bearing = peace of mind.
