don't take this to the bank.

I shoot the IR gun at the steel rim, not the drum(easier to shoot it at) and get 120-140. they key to testing, is similar readings accross different rims, if one is way off, investigate further. That testing is normal testing, like when I am getting gas.

100° to 150° over outside Temps if you are using the brakes. Should all be
close to the same temp plus or minus a few.

Varies, but all 4 should be fairly constant.

Lorne,

The highest I have ever seen was 190°F, and more typically 175°F. With that highest, the bearings were still in the 150°F region.
My typical scatter after mountain driving (this can't happen in Michgan) is a total spread of maybe 25°F.

I leave it to you to translate that Celsius.

The only people in Canada that think in metric are all under 30 and they
don't know what they are saying.

"What kind of gas mileage do you get with that thing?"

There are 2 answers:
1) "Great, I can go to Halifax and back on a single tank."
2) "I get around 300km to a tank."

"How big is the tank?" I ask.

The response is always the same... " I don't know, but it gets great
mileage! "
