Is there a factory dent in the oil pan or am I blessed with two oil pans with the same identical dent?

My pan has a different shaped dent.

Some pans have an oil deflector on that side that partially obscures that
dent. I have three oil pans, two I know that were off of motorhome engines
that were not previously molested by anyone. They had the deflectors. One
other one that I know was off an Toronado passenger car. It did not have
the deflector. All three were mis-shapen where your dents are. I suspect
poor metal forming from the factory.

Thanks for the complements. The only problem I have with the deep sump is removing
the starter motor. I have to remove the oil filter housing first.
And when I removed the engine, I had to pull out the right half-shaft first.
The inner CV joint is close to the sump.

That’s strange. I’ve had my starter off several times over the years and have never had to remove the oil filter.

You are talking about a 455 engine?

When I added the deep sump oil pan I could
no longer remove the starter without taking off the oil filter first.
