Others will likely chime in here, but you need to rethink your wiring. Electricity will follow the path of least resistance and will not simply send 1/3rd of the amps down each of your three small wires. All 19 amps are going to go down one of those three until it burns up. My suggestion would be to replace your three 18ga wires with one proper 10ga wire as soon as you can.

My Viair is run by a relay I put in, which relay is energized by the original wiring. I fused it at 30 amps, ViAir claims a 19 amp draw. I was out
of large wire, so it has three identical runs of 18GA wire to the relay.

Jerry,
While Johnny's use of three small wires is not an elegant solution, the current will divide up nearly equally. Johnny said he used 3 identical runs so the resistance of each wire will be nearly the same. The current will then divide up according to Ohms Law and each wire will carry approximately 1/3 of the total current.

My ammeter doesn't agree with you, Jerry. Consider if you will, whether a number of copper strands have insulation between some of them or not won't affect the current carrying ability of those strands. Or as an exercise, strip a piece of 12GA stranded. Untwist it a bit, and separate the strands at some point into three bundles. Note that the carrying capacity is unchanged.

Not as long as the wires are the same length. Copper has a high positive coefficient of resistance. as one wire carries more current it will warm up and increase in resistance causing the other wires to carry more current.

3 18AWG isn't pretty but should be good enough for a 2 foot run, 2 x .006ohms per foot / 3  aint bad

Is that your final answer, or do you want to guess again? You would be right ONLY if there was a BIG difference in the resistance among the wires. Same gauge, same length, will divide nearly exactly into thirds.

If one wire has half the resistance as the each of the other two, it will still carry only half of the load, and the other two will each carry a quarter.

My EE degree might be 40 years old, but they haven't redesigned electricity since then.

Any difference in the resistance between three basically equal length #18 Gauge wires will be so miniscule as to be immeasurable!

Not quite accurate, Jerry. The three wires will have different resistances
so that they will not all carry the same current, but each will carry some
current. Simple parallel circuit.

For example, if you put 12 volts across wires of 1, 2, and 3 Ohms
resistance, 1 will carry 12/1 amps, the second will carry 12/2 amps, and
the third 12/3 amps, for a total of 12+6+4=22 amps. Johnny's wires will
not be nearly that far apart in resistance so will carry very nearly equal
currents.
