Somebody buy one of these and we can knock out Onan boards by the dozen! And low radiator boards. And ceteras.

Neat machine.. and I could sure use one some days. Usually the evening after I sent off a board for prototypes, I remember one more change I wanted to make!
Could brew up a replacement for the Onan board easily. But by the time you stuff it with parts and conformal coat it and pay for the coffee for the late nights, I don't think you can do it for much less than Dinosaur.

Gee! Only $2199.00.
That would buy a whole lot of Dinosaur boards.
However, I won’t buy one because it won’t work with my Mac computer.

Wouldn't ever pay out on Onans. When you're juggling haf a dozen projects though, it would let you prototype without perf board. And produce something which you could use to see if your layout is reasonable before you send it to a job shop to run a few hundred. 2 Large + is out of my reach. But if someone is struck with benevolence......

But it should be feasible for someone to set up a profitable one-off
prototyping service. The current prototyping services I know of are just
too expensive for the "next after breadboard" stage.

it would never pay off IMHO, if you're doing a 1 or 2 off point to point wireing is faster, cheaper, better and more reliable.

Lots of personal preference involved in that. Personally, back when I was
doing such things, I much preferred laying out a PC board and etching it to
doing point-to-point, even using wire wrap. And I did LOTS of both between
1960 and 2000.

Well, there are Tech Shops and similar maker spaces around the country that
have equipment like this for a monthly membership fee.

TBH, We have one in Springfield IL. I have been wanting to get there for one of there "open build times" but have not found the time yet. I know a few people locally who are involved. As to whether they would have the specific piece of hardware that started this thread is an unknown, as I understand each local group basically decides what to purchase/provide.
I did see one in Decatur GA, which I believe is somewhat closer to you? https://decaturmakers.org/
If you do decide to check one out, I would like to know what you think. There has to be a few parts on the GMC that we could 3D print???

Alan & Dennis (son & his son) brought a couple of samples with them
yesterday from their new 3d printer. Just some toys to start learning to
use it, but a promising beginning. BUT, it's a plastics printer, NOT a PC
board printer.
