I recently figured out that the arm rests on the captain's chair are reversed; meaning the right arm rest is on the left side and the left arm rest is on the right side. I don't know what brand the seats are, but I know that they are the original seats but have been re-upholstered. There is a bracket that I was able to remove 2 bolts from thinking that the rests would come right off. It didn't come off. Now it can rotate 360 degrees. However, it's still firmly hanging onto the seat. How on earth do these rests come out?
I saw a YouTube video for removing arm rests from FlexSteel seat (design looks very similar). The video show pressing in on the rest towards the seat and then rotating the rest up or down and it comes right out. When I press on mine, I don't feel anything giving in or anything.
Any advice?

I am trying to put the right rest on the right side and the left rest on the left side. The don't set right as they are now. They set low and 'floppy'; they will currently fall down and not stay up when you walk away.

Tara,
If the seats are similar to Flex Steel you will need to re-attach the bolts in order to remove the arm.
The arms are difficult to remove, but the you tube you saw is the way to do it.
The arm shaft has a small pin on the end that inserts into the seat back. The pin is perpendicular to the shaft axis and it slips through a slot on the mounting bracket inside the seat back.
You have to push ( it takes a lot of pressure) the arm/shaft in and then rotate the arm to align the pin with the slot to allow the arm shaft to disengage from the interior bracket.
Don't mean to be a wisea$$, but I can't imagine how the arms could be reversed. Seems that would cause the arms to extend to the rear of the seat back.
A picture would help someone help you if the above description isn't useful.

Hmm. I'll replace the bolts and try as you suggest. I'd gladly share some photos but I'm not sure how to upload these. The maximum size appears to be only 1kb!
To answer your 'wisa$$' question, I don't know how it got that way. The coach was owned by another family member and that person had the seats re-upholstered. I suspect the seats were re-assembled by whoever did the re-upholstering. I don't know how the arm rests are facing forward instead of backwards, but I can compare to the passenger seat. Keep in mind, the only reason I looked more closely at this is because the driver side arm rests are not setting right (too low, bracket exposed, and no tension to hold rest up). When I look at the passenger seat, the back of the arm rests near where they connect to the seat, they have a sharper curve on the top and a gentler curve on the bottom. The driver side ones are the exact opposite. However, I'm pretty sure this description is hard to imagine. I will try and figure out how to add pictures here.

Both my coaches have FlexSteel seats up front. The for sale 23' has adjustable arms - there's a tab on the end of each arm that lets you adjust the angle of the arm when it's down. The new used coach has fixed angle arms, as far as I can tell, there's no user adjust control I can find. I'm going to ask Flex Steel if the arms swap without too much trouble. Swapping the setas themselves is more hassle than I want to get into.
