Does anyone know the length of the spring in an awning tube? I have to cut one up for trash removal and hate the idea of cutting through the spring. Awning is DOA and not repairable. Carefree brand, if that helps. Repair parts no longer available from Carefree. I have ZipDee to replace it with.

It just so happens that I am currently refurbishing my awning. I have it completely disassembled. If you allow 3 ft for each spring you will be fine. Again allow 3 ft from each end for your cut and you will clear each spring.
