I don’t like touting a specific product unless it performs far better than the alternatives. In this case I will. Over the years, from full timing to GMCing we have tried a number of different vacuum cleaners including the built in unit that came with the Royale, a very expensive Miele and a parade of smaller inexpensive units from the big box stores. None worked very well in the confined space of a GMC. They were hard to store and if you have carpet that is constantly sucking leaves and muck off your shoes every time you come in, you really need a powered head to do much in the way of cleaning.
We finally had enough on the Alaska trip and noticed that Dyson was closing out their V6 line of battery operated vacs. We purchase one to try and have been really impressed. The battery lasts longer than it takes to do a top to bottom cleaning of our GMCs. But, best of all, the cleaning performance is better than any of the others we tried and discarded. It does have a power head so is ideal for the inside of a GMC. It comes with a wall mount that automatically connects the head to the power for charging. I mounted that on the inside of the door under the refrigerator on the Clasco and plugged the power into the wall receptacle inside that compartment so it recharges whenever we are on shore power or running the generator. If I had that receptacle wired through the inverter it would recharge while going down the road, as well.
Like many others who tried this V6 Dyson, we found that we could vac with that right after vacuuming with one of our other vacs and pick up a whole bunch of stuff the other vac missed. In fact, it worked so well there that we just purchased another head unit with a small power brush, a crevice tool and a clever soft brush tool from Costco for the close out price of $160. That way we can also use it in our building and have twice the run time. if/when the batteries in one unit give out, we just snap on the other head and keep right on going. Sharon’s only concern is that she thinks it might be too strong to use on our hand knotted oriental rugs (I don’t agree).
We first saw one in use while visiting a well known former GMC owner in AZ who experienced the same thing. They would vac with one of their other units and then go back over the same area with the Dyson V6 and fill up the cyclone chamber with what the other vac missed.
The new Dyson cordless version is called a V8, has twice the run time (same as we now have with two head units), supposedly more suction and a bit bigger cyclone housing but it costs $600 with all the bells and whistles.
Ad off. No financial involvement, etc.

77/94 Clasco bone stock (now with FiTech EFI) and looks like it just left the Clasco facility

The Dyson survives Kuvasz hair longer than anything else save the ShopVac and the Rigid clone thereof. The Dyson made it six months here before it packed it in from hair in the works.

I gave a Dyson w digital motor as a gift but the on /off switch has become intermittant leaning towards Off. I tryed to open it up but with some interlocking tabs I only wanted to pry so hard fearing plastic snapping and put the screws back. It is still intermittant but has more power than expected and the power head is ok. I assume Digital motor is some sort of PWM? Now if the switch was less Digital that would be good

Johnny,
We have always had dogs that shed. Some long some short.
I suggest that you get a Kirby and an armload of roller bushes and twice the belts. The roller brushes don't last long, but when you smell the belt, change both. Toss the belt, but put the brush aside, it can be disassembled and the dog fur removed. It will do a better job of getting the fur out of the carpet than even my best shop vac. I get this lesson when ever I do the coach. I'm usually to lazy to go in the house and get a Kirby, so I use one of the shop vacs. If we are going someplace that matters, then I go get a Kirby and do it again.
Don't buy new. Go on EvilBay and get a old one for 1~200$. The are all made of metal with screws to hold it together. If the impeller (fan) gets choked, you can usually go in from the front with long nose pliers and pull the wad out. If not, a few minute with a screw driver and the fan is in day light. They change out easily if one get damaged.
Oh yeah, you'll need bags too. We used to joke that we had three dogs. The one standing there, the one all over the carpet and then the one in the vacuum cleaner.
But, I don't like being without one.

I speak from my experience as well as that of many Kuvasz breeders and owners. Pretty much all of whom end up with a Shop Vac eventually, because nothing else survives. The hair is just fine enough to pass seals and the like, and strong enough to jam up even the best motors. Roller brush bushings and drives fail in days or weeks.
An added benefit - with the shop vac you don't have to buy a blower for grooming - it has enough blast at the output to dry the dog and blow out his coat. I would pay a little extra if they would make one that's a little quieter...

Matt, with the Kirby on board the TZE you will exceed the max GVW rating of the coach.

To remove pet hair from carpet, chairs, pillows, etc. dampen your hand with a wet washcloth and using your hand wipe the Hair in a pile and remove. Try it, it works.

We had 19 of the little scrappers in the ring I was Stewarding last Saturday. Nobody fouled the ring - a red letter day.
