The heathen chinee 7 KW genset is on sale at HF for 539 w/coupon. I got a coupon if someone wants. Less than ten dollars for a fuel pump, some hose, and you're happening.

You are good to go until it breaks. I have a friend with one and he has been waiting for a part for 7 months now.

At that price, just buy another one. If your friend has a shop manual or schematics for it I'd like a copy though. They sell the engine seperately for a couple hundred if he broke an engine part. For the alternator, you'd have to chase it but I betcha it appears in a half dozen different makes.

Buy the 2 year extended warranty. If they can't repair it within 30 days you get a new one. If it lasts more than 2 years you pretty much got your money's worth.

I wish he would get rid of the thing, but he won't. It is sitting torn apart in my hangar. I'm am not acting too interested in it. If I do I'll end up having to fix it. I'm not sure what is wrong with it. If I remember correctly it is an engine problem.

I like JP's approach... I think the extended warranty was like 60 bux or so. Unfortunately in my case it's void, I cut the thing out of its frame and sawed up the power panel. Ken, the engine is currently $199 for the horizontal shaft one from HF.
