Hoping to take a trip to Seatle area in fall. How are the grades on 90 and any chain restrictions that would disallow passage? I have a stock well maintained 77 455 with 3.42 and no toad. Thanks.

If you decide a more north route on i94 accross nd rather the. I-90 accross sd, i am very close to a freeway exit in st. Cloud, mn if you are in need of an overnight.

I am not familiar with i-90 to montana. Accross montanna to seattle are some passes, but pretty mild, and not towing and your final drive should make them a breeze. siskiyou summit Is probably the worst. As far as weather, normally you should not worry up until november. And if the passes get snow/freezing rain, it is either melted at that time by midday, or very shortly that time of year, or just near the higher elevations so short distance dealing with messy roads.

If you do need chains, get good high quality quick chains. quick install, can drive fast, easy removal. Good ones will not bust up and tear your wheel wells up. Do not use cheap cable chains. When i lived in oregon. Les schaub tire stores sold good chains, and if you did not use them, you could return them. I think i bought a pair in missoula, and returned them in spokane. Like these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006CUI01S/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1471971468&sr=8-11&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=tire+chains+q uick+fit+truck

Also call/check before going up if there is a chance of needing chains. Pass conditions change, And there is usually good information and web cams of the conditions.

The road from missoulla to spokane is beautiful.
