Finally got in contact with the owner of the 78(?) That is parked up at a local mall and they may be interested in selling.

It drove from NY to Ashville NC and then to here this year (on 14 year old tires!) So mechanical show promise, chassis looks solid, only very minor signs of interior water damage inside.
It's obviously been loved in the past with Alcoa, and a repaint, upgrade seats etc.

Has Washington state plates and some Oregon plates in one of the lockers.
Very nice oak doors on the overheads and kitchen and a "gun cupboard" in the back.

TZE is TZE168D101313

Anyone got any history for this one?

Pete

Cary, NC 1978 Center Kitchen Royale.

At one time this coach was owned by Rick and Jean Hoffman of Redmond, OR
It is a 1978 Eleganza II.

Go to our sight and key on registration, it will take to the keeper of the

You might look at the tag under the passenger side outside hatch and see.

No. It's a V. When I looked up his number I had to substitute a V to find out the former owners name.

Pete,

Is that off the paperwork or the tag under the passenger side hood?

The Kingsley I bought from Kerry had a VIN Number of T 2 E not T Z E.

Pete,
When you sent me the TZE of this coach via the Registry web site, you didn't put your email in the request, so I have no way to contact you, except here. If you will send me your email address (at the address below), I can send you a couple of more items I have listed in the Registry.
Thanks,
John

Seems GM was sometimes careless with their VIN number stamping.
I took a photo of the plate under the passenger side hood and it's definitely a D not a V......

Unless it's a different coach. Story I'm getting from the guys who have it is the it belonged to a Mr Coleson who bought it new in 78. He left it to his son in 2006 and it's the son who has been using in his retirement home businesses (they just built big one here in Cary)

Doesn't seem to fit with what I know of the Hoffman coach.

Jim, I,'ll add full details later tonight or tomorrow......
Got to first tidy up our rental apartment for new students tonight...

"V" is the plant where the motorhomes were manufactured, Pontiac, MI.

Where was "D"?

So, was this coach assembled at plant "D"? Being a 78 model, could this be the last unit assembled with parts
shipped to "D" to clear the floor at "V"? Any other out there?

Just speculating.

In this era "D" was Doraville, GA, just outside Atlanta. I think it's safe to say it was NOT built there. I have a later '78', built in June of '78, one of last 100 or so produced and my VIN is "V".

I think it is reasonable to say it's a typo, it happens.

Hope to look at it again this weekend. I'll check the glove compartment sticker.

Anyone recognise the coach from the photo as Rick Hoffman's?
