Larry,
I don't have any way to check it myself, but the wiring diagram tells you:
For both Main and Normal, the center terminal should connect to the single
terminal. So, a continuity check will tell you which way to orient the
switch.
From the wiring diagram, it appears at the single terminals should be UP.
But, that conflicts with the usual operation of switches, which is that the
terminals connect opposite to the rocker position. Thus the need for the
continuity check.

Larry,
All I know is when the switch is with the top up side is down, it is in the
off position, so the switch should be open.
When the bottom is pushed down, it is on so the switch is ON.

Larry,
Make sure you've got the orientation correct before you reinstall the dash! Sometime during Double Trouble's life the Main / Aux
switch was installed upside down. That meant that when Main was selected it was actually in Aux.
Helen and I were about to depart from Houston on our yearly USA tour when the oil pressure gage (and others) quit working. It was
early the evening and we needed to get going so John and plumbed in an extra direct reading oil pressure gage and off we went.
It turned out that the Main/Aux selector valve is a normally de-energized solenoid (MAIN) that gets power from the same source as
the instruments when it is switched on (AUX). The selector valve was the original valve and since the switch had been installed
upside down it had been powered any time the ignition was on and it had finally fried.
I replaced the selector valve and was going to turn the connector over on the switch but discovered that wouldn't work because of
the single vs. double poles. I wound up taking a Dymo labeler and making two new labels and reversing them as there was no way I was
going through all the work of disassembling the dash and turning the switch over!
I realize all of this is ABSOLUTELY NO help to you as I can't remember which way the switch goes! :-(

Rob M.

Subject: [GMCnet] Fuel tank selector and Battery Booster switch orientation
Any body out there familiar with the proper orientation of the Fuel tank selector and Battery Booster switchs? Is it like this with
the two spades up and the single spade down or is this upside down?
Here is a picture of current orientation. Top of the picture is up.
