This isn't major problem but the drain plug in my Ragusa transmission pan is leaking around the nylon washer. I took it out today to see what I could see. It's a 3/8 bolt with a nylon washer that is supposed to seal in the aluminum pan but has a very small, slow leak. I called Ragusa for advise. They didn't really have any but are sending me another nylon washer. I doubt that will do any good. Anybody have a suggestion?
(BTW, I'm saving the fluid in a clean bucket to reuse.)

Aircraft spark plugs have a flat solid copper washer on them. On used plugs we reinstall, we heat the cooper washers with a torch to soften them up a bit. Does it work? I don't know.

Use a copper washer as Sully and Ken said, or an aluminum one like Honda does on the aluminum engine crankpan. They are available in the help section in most auto parts stores. Unfortunately, you will need to completely remove the plug to measure and install it and that will drain your fluid.

There are special sealing washers available usually used for brake fittings called Dowty seals.
They are aluminum and have a rubber o-ring inside the aluminum which contacts the threads of the fitting (in your case drain plug).
Google "Dowty seals" and you'll find them.

I have seen this sort of thing before and it is not easy to deal with.
In my cases, there were two causes:
1 - The sealing surface was bad. There was damage or porosity where the sealing element was supposed to make that seal.
2 - The tapped hole for the plug was not square to the surface.
In both cases, I managed to affect a cure by spot facing the seal area. This was not an easy, cheap or fast fix, like NOT to all three. I don't know how this could be done with the pan in place.
An acquaintance achieved a repair of a case 2 situation by making a new plug with a longer unthreaded shoulder and a special washer that had a L in cross section so it could capture and compress a rubber O-ring both against the non-square case surface and the plug shoulder. He would not say how much shop time this cost only that it was cheaper and faster than getting anything imported.

Thanks for the suggestions. Here's where I stand...
Dowty Seals are available from JEGS but their web site doesn't provide full dimensions. They do look interesting. If the right size is available, obviously there would be a wait after ordering one. In order to get on with finishing the job I decided a aluminum crush washer would be a good solution but couldn't find a single one after stopping at three parts stores (Advanced, AutoZone or NAPA). Additionally, none of the three stores had close to the right size copper washer and none had aluminum washers. So, I then went to a hardware store and purchased a copper washer and then to Fastenal for aluminum washers. Those will be in tomorrow morning. An aluminum washer to seal an aluminum transmission pan makes sense so I'm going to try that first. Copper is a back up. If aluminum seals it would also prevent possible galvanic action between dissimilar metals. I ordered a half dozen aluminum because I think there is a chance they will actually do the job. This is a small leak and a small problem but like everything it is taking time to resolve. I'll report both here and to the Ragusa folks as to whether or not the aluminum washer actually seals the drain plug.
