Intake manifold Crack [message #304393]

So I have my intake off to install new gaskets and the crossover blockoff plates. Theres a bunch of carbon deposits on the floor of the intake under the carb and I can see a crack on the wall between the secondary ports. I do not see a crack on the bottom of the crossover. Can I just get away with the block off plates? Does the carbon buildup mean that it has been leaking exhaust into the intake?
