Hi Jon,

As others have said, start with Rob Ms paper to find where the slop, if any, is. Center the box as Alex shows. But, before you go throwing money at new components, make sure your coach is at factory ride height front and rear and the tires are inflated for the load being carried. A 26 will normally take 65 front and 60 rear. Are your tires steel belt, poly side wall. If all steel then the tires will cause all kinds of ride issues. If inflated to the max 80psi ride will also go to pot and even a small amount of slop will seem amplified. Then check to make sure all six wheels are frame parallel. It is not uncommon for the PS center rear bogie to be bent in from hitting a curb. If it is, then it will try to steer the rear and create wiggle in the ride and make the whole front end feel loose. So, no simple answer other than a well sorted out GMC will drive straight and true one hand on the wheel. We just did for 8500 miles.

I guess I have been driving BMW's too long but GMC steering feels loose. I have about 1-2" either way as I hit ruts driving down the highway. Makes me feel like I have to steer it all the time. What is normal? How tight can I get it? All components in front end seem to be tight with no play. No vibration or shimmy driving down the road. New tires but no unusual wear on old ones. Good gas shocks and new hd stabilizer bar. Do steering stabilizers make sense? If I am going to start tighting it up where do I start?
