After being rained out for the last two years, Brit Palmer is all set to shatter the world speed record for a Class A Motorhome.

Here is a chance for all GMCers to donate to a worthy cause and be a part of GMC Motorhome history in the making. Please be a part
of this event and have a good chance to get FREE PARTS for your GMC.

We want to support Britt Palmer by donating a check to the Foundation.
Our part is trying to achieve this by offering 3 chances for prizes or
store credit totaling 10k.
Please read the flyer and see what our community can do.
I plan to be there at the Salt Flats.

We have sent out over few thousand emails using our Infusion Soft program
with the help from our Billy Massey.
Hope we can get the community to donate to the Charcot Marie Tooth
Association.
100% of the donation is going to be turned over to the association.
Britt Palmer has this incurable disease and is trying to establish the
world land speed record with his GMC MH to bring awareness of this disease.
He needs to try to go 130mph on the one mile track at Bonneville Salt
Flats, UT.
Tom Prior is handling the Pay Pal and our office is handling the check and
credit cards.
Applied GMC MH is putting up $ 10,000 total of part to be awarded to to the
lucky three people which we draw at the sight August 13-16. $ 25 donation
qualifies for the drawing.
Our goal is to come up with $ 10,000 to send to the CMTA from the GMC MH
Community.

In years past, there have been a number of donations sent in in support
of the CMTA via the GMC MH Community. Will these be making up part of the
$10k goal???

Yes. It's just that this is the first time it hasn't been rained out or
have other difficulties.

There's a problem using that link: The order entry program wants to apply
shipping to the tickets! For example, $16.74 shipping for 4 tickets. :-(

Yeah, Jim ran into that last year too. He said then that they wouldn't really charge the shipping. They gotta do it by hand as
it's not automatic. Hasn't been much progress.

There will be no shipping charged.

Thank you very much.
If you had a chance to meet Britt Palmer like I have, you'll like him a lot
as he is a great guy. He is a graduate of Denver Univ. and has 2 very close
buddies from there.
Being that he is using the GMC coach to try breaking the World Land Speed
Record for class A motor homes is why we like to see us align up to support
his cause.
The side benefit is that there are 3 drawings which total 10,000 dollars at
the Bonneville Salt Flats,UT. All the donations will go to the CMT
Association from the GMC Community.
Race will be August 13-15. Last two years there was a large thunderstorm
that flooded the track.
Hope the weather will cooperate this year and we can see a record
established of 130mph on the 1 mile track and send 10,000 to the
foundation, and draw the 3 winners.

Hey, Jim K, until I googled it I thought Charcot Marie Tooth disease was
perhaps a dental problem. Now I find that it is quite serious, is related to
muscular dystrophy and affects the legs and hands over time. Charcot, Marie
and Tooth are apparently the names of researchers in the medical field.

Could you comment on its relationship to muscular dystrophy and how it
affects Britt Palmer and others?

Sometimes things are easy to find on the NET, sometimes they are a little trickier.

Good information on the website:

http://www.gmclsr.com/

Talks about the disease:

http://www.gmclsr.com/#!blank/c14p0

Talks about Britt and his quest to make awareness using a GMC motorhome:

http://www.gmclsr.com/#!my-story/e9lym

anything else you need to know about the disease:

Bob,
From what Britt Palmer was explaining, the disease will progress from lack
of use of his legs and at the end he will not be ale to do anything blow
the neck.
Presently, he can drive, but he is feeling the effects.
I believe he is only 30 years old.
Other than that , that is all I know. I'm sure there are lot of information
out there on this .
Hope the GMC Community will pitch i and donate to the Association.

As relayed by Jim Kanomata:

"Here are the results of the donations and drawings for the Land Speed
Record and CTMA donations.

The Community came up with a total of $12,000.00.

The three winners of the drawing for $3,000 worth of GMC products from
Applied GMC are:

Miguel Mendez

Tom Brewer

Thomas Tesene

Britt Palmer will relay the check to CMTA for us."

Thank you for everyone's participation. It is very much appreciated.

From what i can tell:

http://www.scta-bni.org/sw-race-results.html

He ran at 122.156 mph on 8-15 on the short course.

Quick look i see he ran that speed twice, about 119mph once, and a couple 114mph

Pretty cool! Hopefully he keeps at it and runs again next year.

Maybe it has been written before, but was the official high speed of a
regular (if such thing ever existed) 26' GMC MotorHome?
