Howdy GMCers,

Does anyone have Coachmen Centre Kitchen Electric and Plumbing Schematics? If so, I would be extremely grateful if you would share them with me. I'm trying to figure out how the plumbing lines are routed. Most notable on the left side. I have a slow leak somewhere. It does not leak in the coach. It leaks into the hollow rocker panel and then travels out from there. It's very bizarre.

What I know so far:

It is not the water heater.

It is not any of the 2 drain cocks beside the water heater (or the 2 on the right side).

It is completely dry inside the coach.

Perhaps it is the a fitting on a line the heads into the shower stall (now serving duty as a storage closet)?

So, If anyone has the CK Schematic I'd be a happy camper!

If any other CK owners have experience this situation and have any advice...please share!

Cheers, Jim

Yes I know, I have all those schematics. They are indeed very handy. I'm sending out a call for the 78 Royale Center Kitchen model...

Anyone?

I scanned it several years ago. You can download it from the GMCMI.com site.
Click on the tab The GMC Motorhome, then Technical Information, then Support Materials, then electrical.
It is the first item there.

Here is a direct link:

Those drawings were very very handy when I was redoing the interior of my Royale and learning about the coach when I first bought it. Laminated the pages, 3 hole punched and put in a binder in the coach along with the MMs.

Emery,

Those scans are great. The first few drawings of the electrical boxes, etc. are pretty accurate. But the rest of the drawings showing the wire runs, etc. are not for the center kitchen model, as we have, but are for the RB - rear bath model.

I have scoured every place I know to find anything relating to the CK model, and have actually gone to the Coachmen factory and asked them about the old drawings, the center kitchen in particular. They said that all of the plans and prints BEFORE 2000 were destroyed some time ago.

Having just completed a total gutting and restoration of the interior of our center kitchen coach, I can assure you that the wiring layout is totally different for the CK model. Ask me how....

I am aware that much of the file pertains to just the rear bath model but some applies to all models from Coachmen.
That is the only one that I have been able to find over the years.

Thanks people for your responses.

To bad about the lack of schematics for the CK model. I did did finally figure out where all the plumbing lines are routed.

I hope I never ever have a problem with a line on the left side bath area. The lines are squeezed in behind the shower stall then travel under the fridge and finally appear under the sofa connecting to the H2O Heater. Which turns out is leaking after all. At least it's not a line behind the shower! The water is leaking between the floor and wall of the coach and exits between the body seams in to the rocker panel. It is not wet in the coach at all as the water is behind the insulation.

Has anyone replaced just the tank in the heater for this model and have the replacement part number? It is an Atwood GH6-3E.

Jim,
I replaced my water heater with the tankless water heater system in my center kitchen Royale. Probably the best interior upgrade I've done.
With this upgrade you can eliminate the the water hoses from the engine.

I kinda like the fact that the engine heat is heating up water. That way
I rarely have to turn on the water heater. Contains enough hot water in
the evening after a long drive to take a shower.

John,
I wish I was smart enough to be able to post pictures! But the tankless system is the same dimensions as the stock water heater. Very easy swap out.
Peer,
I have never used my old tank heater, but the ability to have a endless supply of hot water is irreplaceable for us. Trade offs on both sides.
Scott.

Scott,

Did you need to alter the propane deliver system at all for the swap over?

How long have you been running the tankless system?

I believe the new replacement for the GH6-3E is GH6-8E

Jim,
The installation was very easy. And their was no modification needed with the propane line or the pex water lines. But if you do need to modify the pex water lines, it is cheaper to go to the local hardware store and get braided stainless water hose with female connectors to replace with. With the cutouts on the side of the coachmens, all you do is pull out your old unit and slip in the new.
I do not know for sure if the tankless systems will fit in the GMC fitted coaches without the side cutouts/door.
The one I went with is the Girard tankless unit. It has a adjustable thermostat that you can set per outside air temps. It's a very nice feature. Atwood also makes a tankless system, but I don't have any experience with it. But I'm sure it's good.
I'm going to storage now to put in a new fantastic vent. So email me if you need me to get some pictures of my Girard system.

John,
I do not have a part number, but it is made by Girard. Out of California. I bought it through Jim K. You can google Girard tankless water heater and they have a pretty good website. Scott
