These things are very handy. I have one (of one type or another) in each of my vehicles and they work. I'm not sure they are powerful enough to crank a 455 or a 403, but they would certainly start up your generator, which would, in turn, provide power to your batteries. They will also start most of our towd engines with no trouble.
