Last Fall before winterizing (1975 Palm Beach)I filled my gas tank to the top. Before I was finished I noticed a puddle of gas at the middle wheel (drivers side) about 12-14 inches in diameter. I drove around for a half hour to use some gas up then went home and it was still leaking but very slow, just a steady drip. I recovered about 2-3 gallons over the next couple of days and then it stopped.

The PO, replaced all hoses and refurbished the tanks in 2008.
I dropped the tanks today but could not see anything that would indicate a leak on the back tank. I remember the leak was sort of dripping from the frame rail area and now I am wondering if the 90 degree hose going to the tank could have been the problem.

Too dark now to investigate further. Anyone have heard of something similar. Maybe I filled it too much with gas?

Fuel line to generator or liquid/vapor separator.

I had the same thing happen with my 75 Palm Beach shortly after I bought it. I was trying to get it as full as possible before a long trip.

I believe the speed of filling and trying to get as much in as possible cause the liquid/vapor separator, canister, vent lines, etc. to fill with fuel. Puddle was in same place as yours and had about 2 gallons on the ground before the leaking stopped. Since then I am now careful in how I fill the tanks. That was 6 years ago and haven't had the problem since.

Like Jim H said, from the location it sounds like the liquid/vapor separator. BUT, that shouldn't leak either unless it is, uh, separated Wink or the lines to it are deteriorated/leaking/loose.

I had the same spot leak twice on me. First time, it was line to fuel separator. Replaced section of fuel line and it has stayed fixed. Second time, (last trip), the metal guard that covers the air lines had wore a hole in the surface of the fuel line, allowing air to be sucked into fuel line. When stopped, same hole allowed fuel to run out when refueling. PITA.
As a result, I carry two sections of fuel line and brass coupler with clamps in coach.

take a real hard look at the fill line elbows. Mine were rotten, weeping, and a disaster waiting to happen. Jim K is the only source for them. They are odd sizes.

Checked all lines and the tank today. the liquid vapor separator fittings were all loose. The back tank fuel line had been attacked by a rodent. It was just behind the hole in the crossover brace behind that middle tire. Both rubber hoses from the main line to the tank are okay.
The line had chew marks and then a section of rubber chewed up. I replaced the 6 foot fuel line and tightened all fittings.
The line I replaced definitely would cause some leaking. I just hope that was the problem. Anyways it is over 90 degrees and on the pavement in the drive
way is way too hot.
Thanks to all for the help and suggestions
