I couldn't see around the window vent with the passenger side mirror.

I decided a 2" extension was what I needed.
Not wanting to spend a lot of money on the stock mirrors and not wanting to spring for the high dollar mirrors yet, I finally came up with a plan. Turning the mirror bar 90 degrees moves the head out 2.5". I can now see around the vent. Orchard Supply has the plastic washers and I will repaint the stanchions when I get the stainless washers, acorn nuts, and flathead mount bolts.

I thought about doing the same thing a few years ago. I ran into a good deal on some Ramco mirrors and so I went that route instead. I'm glad to see that someone tried it and it works.

On FB, Miguel Mendez mentioned the new plastic washers allow the mirrors to move at speed. So, you might not want to replace those.
