Really easy from my experience, Karen. One member endorses you for membership (anyone in the lodge will be happy to do that for you). Application form is simple to fill out. From there you wait a week or two for the membership committee to meet and then you will get a call to attend an orientation meeting where they will explain the Elks philanthropy. Next is the induction meeting. That is the only one I have ever attended. You get a card in the mail and you are all set.

They are particularly helpful in and around cities where there are no RV parks or only very expensive RV parks, like Santa Barbara or Pasadena, CA, Salem or Portland, OR, etc. you can look on line or buy a book of where all there are clubs which offer RV sites and what services are available.

We have stayed in a number of them in Alaska and on our way here. We like them way better than a lot of commercial RV parks. Always a friendly group at the bar and often dinner service as well. A couple of nights ago we had a BBQ ribs or chicken dinner for $10 at the Elks club in Wasilla/Palmer, AK. The site with 30 amp electric and water at the lodge was $15. A near by dump was free.

I took a picture there of the beautiful lake in front of the club with a person fishing from a small boat, a sea plane across the lake and an eagle soaring above. After dinner we sat around a fire with new Elk friends from Texas. That is really all one needs to see and do to know you are in Alaska and life is good!

Looks pretty difficult to me. If I understand it, you have to have 2 (or 3?) member sponsors
and fill out an application and go through a committee interview and attend an indoctrination,
plus other requirements and duties:
