Hi Jon,
Search for my posts under the subject "FiTech is the real deal". All of these items and several more were covered quite some time ago. No jury rig required. I will be doing a seminar on EFI and the modern self learning units like FiTech at the five club rally at Coos Bay, OR, this October if you can make it.

So I installed a FiTech on my 455. Lots of fitment issues they don't talk about. You need to cut bottom off throttle linkage to get clearance above manifold. You need three of those carb spacers to get clearance of butterflies over flanges. 60% of primaries and 40% of secondaries are cut off by gaskets. More on the right than on the left. Can't wait to hear them at full throttle.
I tried every throttle support I could find but wound up building my own out of aluminum angle from Home Depot.
I have adjusted the throttle cable all the way at the engine and under the dash. New cable last year from Alex Sirum. I still need another 2-3 inches to be able to get full throttle opening. Thinking about using squeeze on shots at the gas peddle.
Anybody got any ideas on how to shorten the cable.
I really don't have room at the throttle body to try and extend the arm to get more travel as I think it would interfere with the air filter.
Has anyone else had this issue. Also what have you used at the throttle to attach the cable to the 1/2" hole. Bought the bushing and throttle pin bolt but bushing extends far from shaft ( torquing tb shaft) and throttle pin bolt was too short. Seems like everything about this install in a jury rig.
