So I installed a FiTech on my 455. Lots of fitment issues they don't talk about. You need to cut bottom off throttle linkage to get clearance above manifold. You need three of those carb spacers to get clearance of butterflies over flanges. 60% of primaries and 40% of secondaries are cut off by gaskets. More on the right than on the left. Can't wait to hear them at full throttle.
I tried every throttle support I could find but wound up building my own out of aluminum angle from Home Depot.
I have adjusted the throttle cable all the way at the engine and under the dash. New cable last year from Alex Sirum. I still need another 2-3 inches to be able to get full throttle opening. Thinking about using squeeze on shots at the gas peddle.
Anybody got any ideas on how to shorten the cable.
I really don't have room at the throttle body to try and extend the arm to get more travel as I think it would interfere with the air filter.
Has anyone else had this issue. Also what have you used at the throttle to attach the cable to the 1/2" hole. Bought the bushing and throttle pin bolt but bushing extends far from shaft ( torquing tb shaft) and throttle pin bolt was too short. Seems like everything about this install in a jury rig.

I believe Jerry Work put one on a 403. Wouldn't think a 455 would be much different.

Well that sounds pretty normal when you want to mount a squarebore EFI/Carb to a spreadbore manifold, and then with the lower GMC/Toronado only intake ? what did you think it would be like, a straight forward install ?

Forget the squeeze on shots. Grab hold of the gas petal and pull it up bending the rod that the petal is mounted on. The re-adjsut the kick down switch if necessary. I do not know that you will get you 3", but it will put it a whole lot closer. It is very common for this rod to get bent down over the years on GMCs.

I know on the MSD units, we use a adapter plate that is about 5/8 thick ,
so we have not noticed any problem with the throttle.
As far as the cable, I'm not sure why there is problem there.

Here's how I adapted the throttle cable.
Took about 15 minutes and a lathe. Used a 3/8 x 1.5" bolt and nut, a 1/4" nylock nut and turned a 1/2" x 3/8" shouldered bushing.
Buying the adapter us easier, but no one in town had one today.
