A wall flower has asked me why " the light in the switch is on when the
generator is running" ?
I haven't run into this myself, what does it mean? Does or could it have
anything to do with the hour meter which doesn't work ?

Thanks

It is supposed to be on when the generator is running. I rely on it to let me know that it is running while we are driving. Between the road noise and the radio, I can't hear the gen when were under way, so I check the rear view mirror to make sure the light is still on. Of course another indicator that is has stopped running is that the roof air shuts down and I get rather warm.

Well, kinda. When the genset is running, 12 volts is supplied to the remote panel. It lights the light, and powers the Hobbs clock. If the light lights and the Hobbs clock doesn't run, check the remote panel wiring - they ought to be wired in parallel. If nothings broken (12 V measured on the Hobbs clock terminals) get a new Hobbs clock. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datcom-Instrument-Comp-Model-776CU-Industrial-Elapsed-Time-Meter-P-N-56499-51-/231373109043?hash=item35dee97733:g:-6IAAOSwajVU UB2Z
