Family was excited for the first major outing in our coach, up to the gmc Midwest classics rally in Faribult, MN. We got about 20 miles out of town and I noticed the engine seemed to be running warm. The mechanical gauge was going up to about 3/4 position - I installed the different unit that is recommended to better reflect temps, don't have part number in front of me. Since I'm partially through a fuel injection setup, I hooked up e laptop to see what the electric gauge was reading. 210 was where it was sitting, although it dropped down to 201 in town.
Called the experts at Applied GMC, got confirmation that was too hot, so next system to address will be cooling. Not sure which thermostat is in there, so will start with that and likely a radiator recore or replacement. I'd flushed it out thoroughly last summer but I'd wager safe bet the radiator is original. Had some serious electrolysis issues when I tested and some green edges on the vanes.
Maybe swap water pump while I'm in there...

Did the temps elevate on the freeway or in town?
Do you have the air baffles mounted in between the nose panel and the
radiator/condenser to direct air through radiator?
Do you have a complete fan shroud installed?
If the rig is happy at idle and in town you may have an air flow issue
which could be really simple to correct.

When I added sheets of 1/8" plywood on either side of the radiator between
the grill and rad support my freeway temps dropped by 20 degrees. No other
changes made between temps you are seeing and above on the freeway. I also
had no fender liners.

The OEM fan shroud does not completely cover the radiator area. One edge is open by about 6". The Frank Jenkins's fiberglass fan shroud does completely cover the radiator area.
I would make the side air dams out of a different material than ply, but they are an excellent addition. The factory installed air dams on the last year production run to direct air from the grille through the radiator. The side is easiest to do and may produce the best return on the time and investment.
L
I am currently running the 180 degree thermostat with the side air dams, the new 10 blade fan, and Frank's full fan shroud. This is apparently enough in our Southern heat to keep the water temperature at the 1/4 mark on the gauge.

i was wondering why we did not see you pull in today. I am glad it is not really major, and better to be safe then sorry.
Infra-red laser heat gun is a must have tool to keep at arms reach with these coaches. That and a vom meter.
210 is not terrible, but it really should be cooler i would guess, especially since it was not super hot out.
It was a nice day up to about 3pm, and we are dealing with a bit of rain since, so as far as weather goes, it could be better. So maybe best to save your gas money for a dryer weekend out.

My engine ran similar temperatures when I installed a flow cooler high volume water pump with a 180 degree Robert shaw thermostat. I put the original stock type water pump back in it and the water temp dropped back to 180 degrees go figure ?

My 23' runs 1/8th of the gauge, rises to 1/4th over Monteagle or Culowee with the toad behind. Stock (160) thermostat, recored radiator, new stock fan clutch, stock shroud and stock grille with A/C condenser in front of the radiator. Digipanel says trans and coolant get up around 180-190 pulling the hills. Liners are out - since I'm too lazy to put them back.

I had swapped out my original temp sender for the recommended NAPA TS-6469. It was sitting square at the halfway mark in town but creeping up when I got on the interstate for extended speed. I'm guessing the 40 year old radiator may need attention and investigating the aluminum upgrade. On several spots that I can see, there is that green shading on the fins. Never a good sign.
