We crossed the CA/AK border this morning in rain, fog, wind and over the worst roads we have yet encountered. When in country this remote under these conditions one gains a new appreciation for reliability! And, the 78 Royale is giving that to us in spades so far. My earlier point about the importance of reliable house systems plays out every day as we enjoy a warm, comfortable and dry interior, hot showers each morning, coffee when we get out of bed, etc. All good stuff. Watching the miles go by with the one ton front end absorbing the road shocks without complaint and the 3.67 gearing allowing us to climb like the very many mountains weren't even there is also really good stuff.
