I'm putting a mico brake lock on the beast. I know it's strictly for emergencies only and a few weeks ago I sure could have used it. My final drive wasted the pinion bearing with no warning and broke the out put shaft on the tranny so I had no no way to keep it from rolling back into traffic other than the auxiliary vacuum booster to keep me with brakes and a copilot/wife who was able to jump in the seat as I got out and hold down brakes while I jumped out and put chocks behind the tires. So glad I keep them in the fridge compartment. Never had any reason for parking brake in the last 4 plus years. The PO had remove both drums from center and rear and put disc on the center, I put drums back on the rears but all the goodies for parking brakes are long gone before I took posession. And with only one possible set of parking brakes available I didn't worry about it till now. This was just to explain why I'm putting the mico lock on just for emergencies. I know others have done it and I went by the photos from the forum, when it was all done I only had about at the max 5/8' clearance between the left tire and the mico lock during a hard left turn. I could probably relocate it higher right behind the proportioning/combo valve but if if others have run like this with no issues I'd rather not. Don't want to start a major argument over the pros and cons of this device, I know it's just for emergencies, I call what happened the other day an emergency and I'm not sure a stock parking brake, the least bit out of adjustment would have held me. Any experiences out there in the consortium.
Thanks

My Chuck Aulgur Reaction arm disc brake kit came with a line lock that I installed in place of the hand brake lever. I hardly ever use it and when I do, the "Brake" light on the dash stays on for a while and makes me think something is wrong for a while. It eventually goes out, and there has never been any other indication of a problem...but that's beside the point. It is in a handy place and easy to use:

Having been a truck driver in my beginning years
I only trusted a brake lock for an emergency brake

Has been great all these years

I put it in just like the photo you referenced me to, I could always put the spacers back on and know for sure it will clear. In my mind I know that gap should never change because the a-arms are going to stay in the same place, but the ideal of it being that close is scarry. Could it be that my steering box has more throw than it should, don't know if the throw is more than stock. I have more than the normal number of turns stop to stop according to Mr. Farara who helped me with the box a few months ago, does that make it respond a little slower or give it more throw?
