When lat out, the driver (Mary) reported to the engineer (me) that the engine temperature was down again where it used to run. That was about 160°F. I changed out that thermostat a year or two ago. Now it was there again. So, I drained a gallon of coolant, removed the T'stat (it was closed) and did the pot-on-stove test. It opened at about 160°!

This was a first for me.
I have had them fail open and fail to open even in boiling water. But this was new.

Auto Zone had one.
