>a Ford 10 speed automatic
Yeah, my thought was "Let someone else work out the kinks on that one. Maybe after the 3rd model year, it'll work."

If the 10 speed is related to the 6R60 6-speed, then they should be good.
The 5 speed (5R55E) was really just a French built C6 with electronics and an OD that shifted in between 1 and 2 to get the fifth ratio. It was a piece of shit. The C6 was based on an ooooooold Borg Warner design if I recall.
The 6R60 is a totally different transmission. It is a Licensed, US made, Ford Built ZF specifically made for the trucks. I have one in my current Sport Trac behind a "warmed up" 4.6 V8. It is perhaps the best truck automatic this side of an Allison. With the combined 4,500 lb truck and 6,000 lb trailer, I have towed about 25 times, many times up 6% in 115* heat, and this thing still works as designed, and currently has 105K on it. My previous 5R55E with a V6 gave up the ghost at 63K, and again at 80, and the TC gave out around 110K. Thankfully the last two times were $0 deductible warranty.
