Before installing the final drive, I'm hoping to replace the output shaft seals on the RH and LH sides. Following the parts interchange manual, I picked up a couple of seals from NAPA (14994 & 14863):

These may fit the FD, but what I'm assuming to be the current seals have plates over them - the LH with the two vent holes and the RH with several slots around it.

Looking at the FSM, it appears that the seal is hammered into the housing to remove it. I just wanted to check before I start pressing away to see if I'm heading down the right path. Are those metal "covers" over the seals that are then fitted over the new parts I got, or am I looking at this completely cock-eyed?

And Ken - I've got my nice old cutting board ready for shaping! Found one I'd used in the past for some bondo mixing, so no need to perturb the wife. A double win!
