We use Galaxy's through Verizon with 4G capabilities, and this is very
helpful...finally I "get it". I am not being very techie at all, but this
I can understand and use! Thanks!

I've been doing something similar for a couple of years now using my
Android phone, a Raspberry Pi, and the Easy Tether app.

Basically it works like this:

The Android phone connects to either 4G-LTE (or 3G in outlying areas)
mobile data or to a WiFi. The Easy Tether app on the phone routes the data
to
the phones USB port and via a cable to a USB port on the Raspberry Pi. On
the Raspberry Pi the Easy Tether client autostarts at power up and routes
the data from the Pi's USB to the Pi's USB wireless dongle. The Pi's
wireless dongle is called "carwifi" which is what everyone with a tablet or
laptop sees as an active WiFi connection from which to choose from.

So, everyone on a tablet or laptop connects to "carwifi" and whenever the
Android phone is in range of a data source (the phone companies mobile data
or somebodies WiFi) they have internet access without having to change
their tablet from "carwifi".
