So are the governors we use ONLY from the 1970's TH425 trannies? Or was
the same governor used on other vehicles/trannies (eg TH400 or TH325 or ??)?

Just curious as there aren't any 1970's eldorados or toronados at the
local junkyards currently, and that problem is only going to get worse.

thanks,

KB, I think we are stuck with TH425 governor set. I would check with Manny or JmK, to see if they have one available.
The boondoggle know as "Cash for Klunkers" destroyed most of these. I seem to remember that it cost us taxpayers about $15k per vehicle removed from the road. Another great progressive policy.

Well, here's a chance for some of the techies - Colie??? - to shine. As I understand the thing as it spins, it throws counterweights further and further apart, thereby moving a piston up/down in the valve body. Now isn't this very subject to a stepper motor being run by an RPM resolver? Could one not plot the piston movement vs spin RPM curve, and then use an Arduino or Raspberry Pi or equal to run a stepper and duplicate the governor action? Then there will be a replacement available on the inevitable day that the stock item no longer exists.

Karen,
We have rebuilt ones as well as used.
The rebuilt ones are tested and we warranty them to be good, while the use
one is as is, but we will replace them if it does not hold up for 12 month.
