Here's an eBay vendor I've bought from in the past. Review of the store
today reveals a lot of items potentially useful to GMCers. Note that he's
been on eBay for 12 years.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/renbusan/m.html?_trksid=p3692

Does anyone know offhand the depth of our gas tanks? I ask because he
offers a CAPACITIVE pickup and gauge useable in tanks down to 4.6". That
sounds interesting to me.

If anyone's interested in EGT, pay particular attention to his gauge
w/K-thermocouple; you're not likely to find a less expensive combination.

Ken,

He does have lots of neat stuff, but I am afraid you would have to replace the display instruments. The resistive units are not the 3 to 90 that GM used in the coach's day and the capacitive is a 12V in for 0.5 to 5V output it is an SAE 5-hole mount and he does not dimension how high it is above the flange. All of the level senders are 5-hole mounts. They can be spliced into the GMC fuel pickup, but it is a lot of work for not much gain when there is a company somewhere in California (I was told) that will rebuild the senders in our pickups for a reasonable price.

I sure would like to have a black tank sender that actually displayed the true situation.

Matt,

You must have missed that he does offer a "GM Style" sender for 6"+ tanks
with 90-0 Ohm range. Aside from that, I'm obviously not very concerned
about whether anything matches the OEM gauges, since I have none left. :-)

As for black water status, I doubt we're going to see anything more
satisfactory than the external capacitive type -- the tanks' internal
environments are just too severe. I've had one of those laying on my
workbench for a couple of years since I picked it up at Applied's Newark,
CA office. One of these days its roundtuit will mature. :-)

Mark and Justin,

That is impressive, but you should also see and hear about the rest of the coach!

Mark & Justin,

Thanks for the kind comments. Everyone thinks it was a massive
undertaking. Not really. With all the old junk out of the way, things
just sort of fall in place. Several others have done at least as well.
Frankly, I'd rather undertake that again than try to nicely rebuild the
original or replace it with a fiberglass one.

Ken,
I just like to see craftsmanship incorporated into modification. So often I see things thrown together with no regard for aesthetics or taste.
It's refreshing to see someone do a nice job!

I am currently digitizing the original dash so that I can provide replacements of the high end variety in various hardwoods.
