My shop needed a good cleaning with all this work. So I spent some time last night, and today getting things back in some semblance of order. So now I can't find the install instructions for the antenna. I think I'm missing a washer for the top of the roof. When the antenna is up. Then I can finish the headliner. Just contact me privately. E-mail, or call anytime Sunday. 319-521-4891 CDT.Bob Dunahugh

What brand of CB antenna are you installing? If you are using a K-40 base-loaded whip in a through-the-roof mounting scenario, you will need what they call a "weather donut" (from K-40)for the topside to seal it and keep the outside out.

Most of the antennas on the top of my coach use NMO 3/4” mounts.

I’ve had them in holes on my cars and trucks for years, and never a leak.

Make certain the mating surface is clean, and they just work - which is why you see them on most emergency vehicles.

They do a decent job from DC to light (only kidding, good to about 1000 mHz).

Since everyone knows Amateur Radio operators are never an opinionated group, here’s a link.

Through-hole NMO mount: 3/4 or 3/8?

Finally, it’s CB. So I bought something stainless and from a reputable brand. Buying the latest and greatest super whiz bang antenna design probably won’t perform noticeably better when talking to people who are over modulated and sound like they have a mouth full of feces.

I meant Big Mac's. OK, I’ll quit while I’m ahead.

Just my take on this…..

The main thing on the antenna is that the shielding around the center wire is grounded to the body bracing of the roof. Correct? Bob

Yes, and make sure the center wire is NOT grounded, and is continuous to the other end at the radio.
