Hill out of Portland to Hwy 26, and some of the hills on I-5 and other
places. I noticed it a little last year, but it's getting worse. Had all
the fuel filters replaced, and a new mechanical fuel pump, but no joy.
Darn.

Ron,
This is probably a dumb question, but can you confirm your Carter 4070 is
working?
I use Carter 4070s on my jeeps and I've had at least 2 of them freeze up on
me. I took them apart and whatever was binding was free'd up and they
would run again for another year or so. Make sure you can hear it "hum"
when you power it up.

A recored radiator and a couple of Mr Gasket pumps, new fan clutch, and blanking off the mechanical pump cured mine from exactly that. Wouldn't pull the hill N of Sylve NC, and usually quit on first power reduction at the top of MontEagle. The shop put a four flue core in the radiator, I suspect the extra capacity helps. It walked over Monteagle last month, and will test the hill at Sylve in May. Note that I run non-alcohol gas exclusively, I suspect that helps.

It is that time of year again. The EPA vapor pressure requirements on all gasoline sold at retail in the USA for road use is kicking on May 1st. If you have fuel purchased before May 1st you probably have what I call "winter mix" fuel. If you use it when it get warm or hot and you stand a good chance of having the problem you described.
Also if you are using ethanol diluted fuel (E10) the EPA gives the fuel companies an additional 1 point waiver year round form the volatility requirements.
